What is strategic planning?
What a great question!
Basically, it is getting really clear about:
1) What you really want to achieve (vision) 2) What you really do (mission) 3) How you’re really going to achieve what you want (the plan)
What it isn’t:
1) Someone coming in to tell you how to run your business / organisation (you’re the expert) 2) A wishlist (very little gets done) 3) Boring (in fact some weirdos *guess who!?* actually love it)
Now is tough, unwelcome change has been forced upon us, and resources are tight. Which makes now a surprisingly(?) good time to take time out, to go big picture and have a refresh, and to see what IS possible.
*strategy - a detailed plan for achieving success in situations such as war, politics, business, industry, or sport, or the skill of planning for such situations
*planning - the act of deciding how to do something
